California may have had a lot of fuel altereds, but they didn't have a lock on 'em.
On these pages, they come from across the big ponds! FromAustralia to Jolly Old England, with stops in varous other countries!

From the Acceleration Archives of Alan Curran come the following photos... I've been sitting on them for a few years, and finally they're seeing the light of day.

Check out Alan's Acceleration Archives for everything nostalgic in the UK. It gets a big "thumbs up' from me!

Most of the captions are Alan's, I slipped in a bit of info here and there...

Tee-Rat doing a modest little burn out at - well you can work that out for yourself!
I remember standing next to the Dream Machine(ex-Lawce Bros & Gunn) of Keith Harvie in the pits at Silverstone on a wet and miserable day when Dave Stone was being interviewed over the PA system shortly after the supercharger had been fitted to Tee-Rat. At that time he was starting to run 7 seconds regularly with speeds over 190mph. He confessed that at those speeds the car was vibrating so much he had difficulty seeing where he was going!

Shutdown burning out at Silverstone.
At this stage the car may still have been driven by Freddie Whittle but it could equally well have been Mike Hall at the controls.

Not a very wonderful shot of Dream Machine on the strip taken at Santa Pod.
Former Lawce Bros & Gunn altered, now owned by Keith Harvie, after having the over-cockpit wing removed, and a bit of a wheelbase stretch.

The Ex-Lawce Bros & Gunn altered, still with the wing, and the original wheelbase.

Again, a not too special shot of Dream Machine burning out.

Keith Harvie in the pits warming up the ex-Lawce & Gunn altered. Because the wing and chassis are unmolested, this has to be immediately after the car was shipped to the UK.

This is the new re-built Shutdown now definitely in the hands of Mike Hall.
The chassis was built by Dennis Priddle (a long time top fuel dragster pilot, first man in the sixes outside the USA) and campaigned by him in a funny car for a season or two. This picture was taken at Blackbushe.

Shutdown again this time at Santa Pod.

Shutdown burning out at Blackbushe.

A somewhat better effort at Wroughton, the marshal seems to be finding it rather noisy!

Shutdown was by now a solid 7 second performer courtesy of the Priddle chassis, seen here hazing the tyres at the Pod.

The re-built Tee-Rat seen on its first outing on a pleasant day (there were some!) at Santa Pod in the pits.

My last picture of Sneaky T now with a new lower, longer funny car type chassis, an omen of what was to come .
