4th Annual Fuel Altered Nationals, 2002,Tucson, AZ From veteran photographer Paul Sadler come the following images. They're a bit random, but they do tell a story, the story of those insane frickin' fuel altered folks. These are all still frames from digital video, of which I do have a copy and it - is - killer - footage! More details on that later. For right now, enjoy the 3rd Annual Fuel Altered Nationals at Tucson.
Mike Demarest puts a tune on the Nanook of Dave Hough...
...and watches it go lean and blow out the burst panel. A plugged fuel line is the cause.
Dave Hough runs the valves on the Nanook.
It takes a educated touch...
Jeff Bennett and the 2001 No Mercy fuel altered.
Bennett backs it up...
...and blazes downtrack.
Bakersfield's Greg Daebelliehn hangs the butterflies wide open...
Ricky Ruiz generates a fog bank with his Nevada Rattler.
Looks like a launch for Ruiz, but there's smoke where there should be none...
James Generalao heats up the hides in the "Impatient" T.
Going, going, going....
Steve Tryon gets staged in his "Pure Heck" Bantam.
Gorilla smoke.
Gorilla header flames.
Yowza. Stephen Neese lites the barbeque!
Ron Fassl gets after it...looks like the clutch is a bit tight... Follow along with the next few photos, and watch some real fuel altered action.
Greg Daebelliehn shows that fuel altereds, no matter how long, low, or how much wing, still get way outta shape, just like days of old... More Tucson 2002 on the next page, including
a Flash movie of this "up on no wheels" run of Greg Daebelliehn
